PunchListAI (“we”, “us”, or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the PunchListAI mobile application (the “App”).
1. Information We Collect
PunchListAI is designed to minimize the data we collect. We collect only the information necessary to provide the App’s core functionality.
Information stored on your device
The following information is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers:
- Project information you create (project name, address, client and inspector details, references, dates)
- Issue records you create (titles, descriptions, severity, priority, status, tags, due dates, location)
- Photos you capture or import for inspection purposes
- Annotations you draw on photos using PencilKit
- Generated PDF reports
- Application settings (theme preference, custom logo, company name)
This data is stored in a private database on your device and may be backed up to your personal iCloud account by iOS, depending on your device backup settings. We do not have access to your iCloud backups.
Information sent to Anthropic for AI analysis
When you choose to analyze a photo using the AI feature, the photo and a system prompt are transmitted to Anthropic, PBC (“Anthropic”) via their Claude Vision API. Anthropic processes this image to generate a textual description of the construction defect.
According to Anthropic’s published policies, content sent through their API is not used for model training and is processed ephemerally. For more information, see Anthropic’s Privacy Policy.
We do not see, store, or have access to the photos you analyze. The image is transmitted directly from your device to Anthropic.
Subscription information
Subscriptions are managed by Apple Inc. through the App Store. We do not receive your payment information, billing details, or Apple ID. Apple provides us only with anonymous transaction confirmations to validate your subscription status. See Apple’s Privacy Policy for details.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
PunchListAI does not collect, track, or process:
- Your name, email address, or phone number (no account is required to use the App)
- Your precise or approximate location
- Your contacts, calendars, or browser history
- Analytics, telemetry, or crash reports
- Advertising identifiers
- Health, fitness, or financial information
3. How We Use Your Information
The information stored on your device is used solely to:
- Provide the App’s functionality (manage projects, capture issues, generate reports)
- Analyze photos via the Claude Vision API when you initiate an AI analysis
- Maintain your subscription status
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party for marketing or advertising purposes.
4. Permissions Requested by the App
To function, PunchListAI requests the following permissions:
- Camera — to capture photos of construction defects on site
- Photo Library — to import existing photos into the App
- Microphone — for voice-to-text dictation of inspection notes
- Speech Recognition — to convert your dictated speech into text
You can grant or revoke these permissions at any time in your device’s Settings under PunchListAI.
5. Data Security
Data stored on your device is protected by your device’s encryption and access controls (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID). Data sent to Anthropic for AI analysis is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS).
We follow industry-standard practices to protect your data, but no system can be guaranteed 100% secure.
6. Your Rights
Because all your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control:
- Delete data: You can delete individual projects, issues, photos, or reports from within the App. The “Delete All Data” option in Settings removes all your data permanently.
- Export data: Your inspection data can be exported as a PDF report at any time.
- Uninstall: Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.
If you reside in the European Union, United Kingdom, California, or another jurisdiction with privacy laws, you have additional rights including access, correction, deletion, and portability. 7. Children’s Privacy
PunchListAI is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. The App does not require an account or any personal information to use.
8. International Data Transfers
If you initiate an AI analysis, the photo is transmitted to Anthropic’s servers, which may be located in the United States or other countries. Anthropic complies with applicable data protection regulations.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
