SmartCtrl for Android: Terms of Use

These terms apply to SmartCtrl for Android (the "App") published by Nice Express ("we", "us") on Google Play. By downloading or using the App you agree to them, together with the Google Play Terms of Service.

1. What the App does

The App turns your Android phone or tablet into a remote control for Roku, Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV / Google TV, Hisense VIDAA and Vizio SmartCast TVs, over your Wi-Fi network.

2. Free, funded by advertising

The App is entirely free. It has no in-app purchases and no subscriptions. Advertising from Google AdMob, described in our Privacy Policy, is its only source of revenue. We are not responsible for the content of ads or for the websites they lead to.

3. Rewarded videos

If you choose to watch a rewarded video, the App lends you its themes and the 3D relief for 24 hours. When the 24 hours are over, the App returns to the Classic theme. Watching a rewarded video is not a purchase: you pay nothing, and the unlock has no monetary value and cannot be transferred or exchanged. Rewarded videos are provided by Google AdMob and may not always be available.

4. What you need

  • Your phone or tablet and your TV must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • The TV must be switched on and connected to that network. Some TVs ask you to accept the App on the TV screen the first time.
  • Some network settings, such as guest networks or client isolation on the router, can prevent the App from finding your TV.

5. No compatibility guarantee

TV makers use different systems and change them with software updates. We cannot guarantee that the App works with a particular TV model, software version or feature, or that it will keep working after an update of the TV. The App is free, so you can check that it works with your TV before relying on it.

6. Acceptable use

You may use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes, and only with TVs you own or are allowed to use. You may not copy, resell, reverse engineer or redistribute the App, or use it in a way that breaks the law.

7. Intellectual property and trademarks

The App, its design and its content belong to Nice Express. SmartCtrl is independent and is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Roku, Samsung, LG, Amazon, Google, Hisense or Vizio. Roku, Samsung, Tizen, LG, webOS, Amazon, Fire TV, Google, Android, Android TV, Google TV, Google Play, Hisense, VIDAA, Vizio and SmartCast are trademarks of their respective owners.

8. Internet connection

Controlling the TV uses your local network. Ads need an internet connection, and your mobile operator's data charges may apply.

9. No warranty

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, to the extent permitted by law.

10. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Nice Express is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from the use of the App, or from a TV that does not respond as expected. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded.

11. Changes

We may update the App and these terms. The effective date at the top shows the latest version; continuing to use the App means you accept the updated terms. You can stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it.
